It all began with a book. A book about the female Pinkerton Detectives. Females that were hired as undercover agents in the 1800’s! Pretty progressive, don’t you think?

Kate Hugo: Diamond Detective Agent.  Think Knives Out meets The Book of Eli meets The Sixth Sense. This film is a ‘whodunit’ with a cast of interesting characters, set in a post-cataclysmic environment, with a little bit of the supernatural mixed in.

The year is 2032, five years after a catastrophic geomagnetic storm devastates the earth’s magnetic field, wiping out technology as we know it. There’s a murder, but no internet, no cell phones, no fingerprint databases – so how do you solve it? Enter Kate Hugo whose unconventional methods of solving a crime are central to the story. A story, which by the way, is inspired by a true crime solved by Kate Warne, America’s first female Pinkerton detective.

Kate reluctantly accepts the local Sheriff’s help to catch the criminal, but her unconventional methods are strange and questionable. Can Kate and the Sheriff overcome their distrust of each other? What secrets do the residents of Arivaca hide? Is the teller communicating from beyond the dead to identify his killer? Or will Kate’s unconventional approach to solving the crime force the culprit’s confession?
